Global Professional Services Firms: Prior to founding Bailen Public Relations in 2007, Howard Bailen held a series of senior media relations positions at some of the world’s most recognized professional services firms. For more than 20 years, he created and helped implement comprehensive, high-profile public relations programs at Mercer Human Resource Consulting (now Mercer), Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman) and – earlier – at Ernst & Young and Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC).
Howard’s efforts resulted in stronger external profiles for all the firms and widespread (print, broadcast and online) visibility in support of the organization’s major intellectual capital initiatives, best-selling business books and global industry practices. For example, at Mercer Human Resource Consulting, Howard planned, developed and implemented media relations strategies for the annual Mercer/Wall Street Journal CEO Compensation Survey.
As media relations director at Mercer Management Consulting, he planned and executed high-visibility external communications programs in support of The Profit Zone and other highly regarded management books by the noted strategy consultant, Adrian Slywotzky.
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA): Bailen Public Relations and a team of internal and external communications specialists were hired to help a United Nations agency, the UNFPA, describe its mission to the media.
Bailen Public Relations and the other specialists worked with the agency’s leaders to ultimately transform the way it spoke about itself, inside and outside the organization. Media skills and executive-to-executive skills training were among the new tools the team developed for the agency.
Presidio Pay Advisors: Bailen Public Relations worked with the independent California-based provider of compensation consulting services, crafting the media strategy in support of two important campaigns: the rollout of Presidio’s innovative product, the IPO Pay Reporter, and its in-depth study of the relationship between executive pay and US banks’ financial performance.
For both campaigns, Bailen Public Relations mobilized Presidio’s experts, getting them (and their firm) traditional and online media attention.
WorldatWork: Bailen Public Relations helped the Arizona-based global association of human resource professionals develop their media outreach strategy, external communication guidelines and specific practice positioning. Widespread visibility was generated in support of the opening of WorldatWork’s Washington office.
Bailen Public Relations implemented successful media relations programs for the association’s executive compensation, salary budget, work-life and other surveys; it also introduced WorldatWork to a wide array of key HR bloggers and online HR news sites.
SBR Consulting: Media outreach efforts by Bailen Public Relations has helped SBR Consulting – a growing North Carolina-based human capital consulting firm focusing on employee retention – develop national visibility. An ongoing campaign highlighting SBR’s expertise on attracting, managing and rewarding different generations in the workplace has resulted in the placement of bylined articles by the firm’s founder in key HR publications as well as numerous quotes in national media outlets.
